Top Research Chosen for 2023 AABB Annual Meeting’s Plenary Oral Abstract Session

AABB is pleased to announce the five scientific abstracts chosen for inclusion in the Plenary Oral Abstract Session at the 2023 AABB Annual Meeting, to be held Oct. 14-17 in Nashville, Tenn.

These abstracts, chosen by the AABB Selection of Abstracts Committee, represent the most significant research in the field of blood and biotherapies this year. Every year, the AABB Annual Meeting features the latest cutting-edge research in the field of blood and biotherapies. This year’s meeting will include critical new research in every aspect of the field. Among the hundreds of abstracts accepted for inclusion in this year’s meeting, the five selected for the Plenary Oral Abstract Session are those deemed as having the highest scientific merit and those most likely to have long-term implications on the advancement of the field.

The abstracts chosen for this year’s Plenary Oral Abstract Session are:

  • Anti-CD36 (anti-GPIV) Frequently Interferes With Routine Red Blood Cell Antibody Testing in Patients of African Descent, presented by Thierry Peyrard, PharmD, PhD, EurSpLM.
  • Apyrase Reduces Severity of Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA) Secondary to Checkpoint Inhibitors in a Mouse Model, presented by Flavia Dei Zotti, PhD.
  • Durable Elimination of Pre-existing Donor Specific Alloantibodies Using Chimeric Antigen Receptors T cells Targeting B cells and Long-Lived Plasma Cells, presented by Vijay Bhoj, MD, PhD.
  • Syphilis Seroprevalence and Incidence in Blood Donors from 2020 to 2022, on Behalf of the U.S. TTIMS Program, presented by Galen Conti, MPH.
  • The Impact of Non-Disclosure of Antiretroviral Therapy on HIV Incidence Algorithms, presented by Karin van den berg, MD.
